My desk this week -
Much the same as last week's desk, only with new cross stitches on top.
Unfortunately, one of OH's grannies passed away last Tuesday. I was very glum on the Wednesday and decided to start stitching five of these lily designs to put on condolence cards for granny's husband and children. It felt like some sort of therapy to start stitching them straight away. Perhaps a small amount of peace was obtained in doing so. I don't know.
I haven't been feeling well this week (hello tinnitus!) so have done exactly nothing else. Sorry it's so boring! Shall endeavour to get back on track with next week's WOYWW. Have a great week all! x
I'm sure your cross stitch cards will be much appreciated by the family . Get better soon & your not at all boring as we all have our off days. Happy woyww jill #18
ReplyDeleteCross stitch cards are so special because of the work that goes in. Beautiful lily design! x
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about you OH's granny. It's so hard to say goodbye to loved ones, specially for her husband. Your condolence cards are lovely, not only the design but the fact that you made them yourself. I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your family's loss! Those lilys are quite gorgeous and I'm glad you found something to do while grieving. As usual, you make me miss my needlework days!!! Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteHappy Crafting!

Sorry to hear your sad news. The lily cross stitch is beautiful, and I do believe that the act of crafting something is both a therapy and an expression of grief and caring - there is nothing we really can do but we need to do what we can. Hope the tinnitus eases, it must be very wearing and something that doesn't help when you are down. Sending cyber hugs, Cindy #50
ReplyDeleteSorry for the loss Lucy... Cross stitching is indeed comforting and relaxing in times of sadness and stress (colouring in a colour book, or colouring mandalas, always works for me... it´s kinda the same ´meditative´ excersise...) Hope your week goes better. Happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #51
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your news but glad you've found some peace in your stitching.

ReplyDeleteI am a cross-stitcher - and it truly is my yoga and my therapy. What a beautiful card these will make. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #59
ReplyDeleteArt is therapy! The stitching is a way to help you deal with things on your terms. I think it was a beautiful gesture that the family will truly appreciate. I am sending wished that you feel better in the upcoming week. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Diane #46 WOYWW
ReplyDeleteOh yes Lucy, I totally believe that your craft is your therapy, and the stitching is beautiful...your recipients will really feel the soothing in your work. sorry to read of your loss.
ReplyDeleteI believe that crafting is a therapy to help me get through the trying times. I was an RN until I got sick and then I needed something to help fill the lonely hours during the night when I was up and hurting. I love your embroidery. Almost makes me want to try again but I don't know if my hands could handle a needle again with the arthritis pain. Might try though! Have a better week this week. Vickie #33
