WOYWW 302 (11)

Hello, and welcome to another week of What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  This is where we sneak a peek at craft desks and floors from around the world.  You should take a look and I think you should join in.  You can do so by clicking this.

My desks this week -

I think I whined last week that I've been ill of late and as such, have been unable to do much crafting.  I'm back to a very sore, very dry throat that I can't seem to keep moist and has a habit of closing up on me.  I did get on with some more of the surprise birthday present.  I'm very pleased with it.  O/H  suggested a red, white and blue one, which I may do, but I can't help feeling that's ripping off Mondrian.  I look forward to making a yellow and green triangle piece.  In the far future.  This one is taking an age.

My actual desk this week - a dumping ground.  Cat treats, camera case, a desk tidy full of embroidery flosses I never find the time to put away, a useful chart that explains how much ribbon is required for cakes of different shapes and sizes (research for work), a lottery ticket (wouldn't THAT be nice?!) and felt tips I used to colour in a birthday card for my mum.

This week I plan to beat this wretched cold, get on with the surprise birthday present and a spot of gardening, while I wait for my crafting mojo to return.  Have a great week all! xxx

  2. I think it looks great - I love Mondrian, but you're not ripping him off at all - I associate him with red blue and yellow.. Anyways, it's looking fab as I said. Hope you get it finished in time! Helen 11

  4. I love your modernis embroidery. I'm sure Mondriaan would feel flattered. (copying is the best form of flattery or however the saying goes....)
I have a bad throat cold too and am coughing and spluttering. Hope you feel better soon.
    Have a great week,

PS I'm thinking of our fellow desk hopper Shoshi today who's operation has been postponed yet again! I can't imagine how she must be feeling.

  5. Hi Lucy, you are not ripping off the artist, this is what we would call "Working in the Style Of" and is perfectly acceptable. have a great week, Angela x 28

  6. I'm ashamed to say I had to look up Mondrian... not a name I remembered but did recognise the pictures. A good homage if you ask me. I hope the throat is getting better.
    see you next week

  7. Oh, this piece is coming along beautifully. I do hope you get to feeling better soon. It seems so many of us are suffering with some malady. I know the weather change is usually to blame. I hope it doesn't keep you down long.
